The Gujarat State Vigilance Commission and the Industries Commissionerate held a state-level workshop in Gandhinagar on 5 November 2026 on preventive vigilance in government procurement. It was part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, whose theme the release gives as “Integrity for Prosperity”.

Senior administrative officers, department heads, heads of boards and corporations, and Class-1 and Class-2 purchase officers attended. The stress was on stopping problems before they arise rather than investigating past mistakes, which is what “preventive vigilance” means.

What the workshop covered

  • GeM: effective use of the Government e-Marketplace, the national online platform through which government bodies buy goods and services.
  • e-Tendering: strict adherence to e-tender limits.
  • Make in India: proper checking of local-content claims.
  • Splitting and bunching: avoiding the procedural splitting of quantities and the bunching of unrelated items into one purchase.
  • Items outside GeM: streamlined NOC (no-objection certificate) procedures and decentralised purchase protocols.
  • Technical support: help from the Central Stores Purchase Organisation and GeM project management units to remove administrative delays and audit objections.

The release does not name the speakers or give figures on procurement volumes or audit objections.
