ખંભાત, ૩૦ ઓક્ટોબર, ૨૦૨૬: આણંદ જિલ્લાના ખંભાત તાલુકાના ધુવારણ ખાતે ગેઇલ ઇન્ડિયા અને જિલ્લા આપત્તિ વ્યવસ્થાપન કેન્દ્રએ ગેસ પાઇપલાઇનમાં ગળતર અને આગની કાલ્પનિક સ્થિતિ સાથે મોકડ્રિલ યોજી. GSECL, ONGC, અમુલ, પોલીસ, ફાયર, ૧૦૮ અને ૧૧૨ની ટીમો સહિત અનેક વિભાગોએ સાથે મળીને બચાવ કામગીરીનું નિદર્શન કર્યું.

Emergency services and industry teams rehearsed a gas-pipeline leak and fire at Dhuvaran in Khambhat taluka, Anand district, on Friday, October 30, 2026. The mock drill, run jointly by the District Disaster Management Centre and GAIL (India) Ltd under the Khambhat Prant Officer, lasted from 11:40 am to 12:35 pm.

The scenario

The drill imagined that illegal digging had punctured GAIL's main gas pipeline through Dhuvaran, causing a leak and fire. A worker on site alerted GAIL's senior officers, GAIL began first response with its own equipment, and the district control room was informed, setting the wider response in motion.

  • GAIL's technical and fire team shut the main supply valve and sprayed a water curtain to stop the gas spreading, helped by fire crews from ONGC and other plants.
  • Police and traffic staff cordoned off the area and stopped traffic.
  • Health and 108 teams gave first aid to mock casualties and moved them to hospital.

Who took part

GAIL India, GSECL Dhuvaran, ONGC Khambhat, Amul Dairy Anand, Jay Chemicals and Sun Petrochemicals, with the prant and mamlatdar offices, district and local police, the Khambhat municipal fire brigade, the health department, and 108 and 112 emergency teams.

Officials said such drills strengthen coordination between agencies and cut response time in a real emergency. A review meeting afterwards discussed improvements to safety arrangements.
