અમદાવાદ, ૩ નવેમ્બર, ૨૦૨૬: અમદાવાદ શહેરી વિકાસ સત્તામંડળ (ઔડા) ₹૫.૩૦ કરોડના ખર્ચે તેની આશરે ૩૫ મિલકતો પર ૧ MWp ક્ષમતાનો ગ્રીડ-કનેક્ટેડ સોલાર પ્રોજેક્ટ સ્થાપશે. વર્ષે આશરે ૧૨.૭૮ લાખ યુનિટ વીજળી ઉત્પન્ન થશે, જે આ મિલકતોના હાલના ૧૨.૩૧ લાખ યુનિટના વપરાશ કરતાં વધુ છે. ઔડાને વર્ષે આશરે ₹૧.૨૮ કરોડનો ફાયદો થશે અને રોકાણ ૪ વર્ષ ૨ મહિનામાં વસૂલ થશે.

The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) will put solar panels on about 35 of its own electricity-consuming properties, a 1 MWp (1,000 kWp) grid-connected solar PV project with an estimated investment of ₹5.30 crore, the state said on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

The numbers

  • Generation: about 12.78 lakh units of electricity a year, more than the 12.31 lakh units the 35 properties use today.
  • Saving: about ₹1.28 crore a year for AUDA.
  • Payback: 4 years and 2 months, after which the power is effectively free.
  • Timeline: to be completed within 6 months under an annual rate contract, with a 5-year operation and maintenance contract.

Which properties

AUDA's main administrative buildings, its auditorium, the Manipur-Godhavi sports complex, water-distribution centres, drainage pumping stations, Jal Jeevan Mission structures and village water headworks. Panels will go on rooftops or on the ground, wherever each site suits. Water supply and pumping stations get priority because they run round the clock and use the most power.

  • A shadow analysis before commissioning, and a guaranteed performance ratio of at least 78% for five years.
