અમદાવાદ, ૩ નવેમ્બર, ૨૦૨૬: જિલ્લા શિક્ષણાધિકારીની કચેરી, અમદાવાદ શહેરના પર્યાવરણ રક્ષણ અભિયાન હેઠળ અમદાવાદ શહેર (પૂર્વ) અને (પશ્ચિમ)ની ૨૨૦૦થી વધુ શાળાઓના ૭ લાખથી વધુ વિદ્યાર્થીઓએ પાણી અને વીજળી બચાવવાના શપથ લીધા. શાળાઓમાં વિશેષ પ્રાર્થના સભા અને વર્કશોપ દ્વારા બાળકોને રોજિંદા જીવનમાં બગાડ અટકાવવાના સરળ ઉપાયો શીખવાયા.
More than 7 lakh students from over 2,200 schools in Ahmedabad city (east and west) have pledged to save water and electricity, in an environmental awareness drive by the District Education Officer's office, Ahmedabad City, the state said on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The aim is to build careful habits early and turn children into "eco-warriors".
What students pledged
- Water: not leaving the tap running while brushing or bathing, and encouraging their families to harvest rainwater.
- Electricity: switching off unneeded lights, fans and electronic devices straight away, and making the most of daylight.
- Spreading the word: persuading people at home, in the neighbourhood and in society to save water and power too.
Every school held a special assembly and workshop with simple tips for cutting waste in daily life. The head of the office said the pledge would reach well beyond schools: 7 lakh children means 7 lakh families.
