South Eastern Railway (SER) will run a one-trip special train each way between Kharagpur (KGP) and Ahmedabad (ADI) to handle the extra rush of passengers for the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade at Ekta Nagar on October 30 and 31, 2026. The decision is in an SER letter dated October 19, 2026, issued after a request from the National School of Drama and approval from the Railway Board. The train runs as a Train on Demand (TOD) special.

What it means for Gujarat
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is marked on October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, with a parade at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar (Kevadia), Narmada district. This special brings travellers from West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra to Ahmedabad ahead of the event. The train's watering and cleaning points include Nandurbar, Surat and Vadodara, which shows it reaches Ahmedabad through south Gujarat. The copy of the letter we have shows timings only up to Nagpur, so the Gujarat arrival times are not in it yet.

Operating details
Kharagpur will handle primary maintenance of the rake and Ahmedabad its secondary maintenance. Bilaspur, Nagpur, Nandurbar, Surat and Vadodara are the watering and Clean Train Station (CTS) points. The crew and guards will be arranged by the adjoining divisions and zones on the route.
