ગાંધીનગર, ૧ નવેમ્બર, ૨૦૨૬: ઇફ્કોના ચેરમેન દિલીપભાઈ સંઘાણી પનામામાં યોજાયેલી ચૂંટણીમાં ૧૦૮ દેશોનું પ્રતિનિધિત્વ કરતી 'ઇન્ટરનેશનલ કોઓપરેટિવ એલાયન્સ' (ICA)ના ડાયરેક્ટર પદે ભારે બહુમતીથી ચૂંટાયા છે. આ સિદ્ધિ નિમિત્તે અડાલજ ખાતે મુખ્યમંત્રી ભૂપેન્દ્ર પટેલની અધ્યક્ષતામાં તેમનો અભિવાદન સમારોહ યોજાયો.
Dilip Sanghani, chairman of the fertiliser cooperative IFFCO (Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative), has been elected a director of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), winning by a large majority in elections held in Panama. The ICA is the worldwide umbrella body of the cooperative movement and, according to the state, represents cooperatives from 108 countries.
To mark the win, a felicitation ceremony titled "From the soil of Gujarat to the world's cooperative stage" was held at Adalaj, near Gandhinagar, on Sunday, November 1, 2026, presided over by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
What the Chief Minister said
The Chief Minister called the win a moment of pride for every Gujarati and credited the favourable international climate built under Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Indian leaders' success on global platforms. He praised Sanghani's nearly five decades of work in public life and the cooperative sector, from 1978 to 2026, and said IFFCO's growth over the past four years reflected his administrative skill. He also mentioned Sanghani's 42-member joint family as an example of the spirit of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam".

About the ICA
Founded in 1895 and headquartered in Brussels, the International Cooperative Alliance is one of the oldest non-governmental organisations in the world. Its board is elected by member organisations at its General Assembly, and it sets out the internationally recognised cooperative principles that bodies such as IFFCO, Amul and India's district cooperative banks follow.
