The Gujarati Cultural Association (GCA) of Bay Area is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has supported the Gujarati and broader Indian community in Northern California for over 40 years through festivals, education, and service-focused programs.

Mission, Vision & Values

GCA’s mission is to preserve, cherish, and celebrate Gujarati and Indian heritage while creating opportunities for current and future generations. Its vision emphasizes linguistic and cultural preservation, intergenerational belonging, and community collaboration—grounded in responsibility, accountability, honesty, openness, and family values.

Leadership & Governance

The Association is guided by a Board of Directors (17 members) led by President Saurin Patel, Vice President Vasudha Patel, Secretary Hetal Amin, and Treasurer Manisha Patel, with directors overseeing membership, communications, and IT. A Board of Trustees—including Krishna Patel, Mahesh B. Patel, and Mina Amin—serves as advisors and ombudsmen. GCA adopted new bylaws in June 2022 to strengthen structure and service.

Signature Events & Cultural Programs

GCA brings the community together with large-scale celebrations of Navratri Ras Garba, Holi, Diwali, Sankranti kite festivals, summer picnics, and networking activities.

Membership

Members enjoy free or discounted entry to Garbas, summer picnics, Sankranti, Holi, and 9+ cultural, networking, sports, and social events annually.

Membership Classes

  • Family Member: Married couple, dependent parents (65+), and children (≤18) or students (≤25), with annual donation requirement.
  • Individual Member: Adults (≥19) or single parents with dependents, plus annual donation.
  • Life Member: One-time donation determined by the Board; family membership criteria apply.

Volunteer & Leadership

GCA welcomes volunteers at events and provides community-service documentation for students. Qualified members may be nominated for Board roles during election cycles.

Donations & Sponsorship

GCA accepts monetary and in-kind donations (check or PayPal; corporate matching supported). Sponsors receive multi-event visibility via stage banners, website placements, newsletters, and social media; custom packages available.

GCA provides a Cremation Guide and a directory of local temples and cultural centers across San Jose, Fremont, Livermore, Sunnyvale, and Saratoga.
