Shree Somnath Sanskrit University (SSSU) – Admission Guide 2025–26

Shree Somnath Sanskrit University (SSSU), located in Veraval, Gir Somnath, Gujarat, was established by the Government of Gujarat in 2005 to promote Sanskrit language and traditional Indian knowledge systems. The university is recognized by the UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. Admissions for Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), Diploma/Certificate, and Ph.D. programs are conducted fully online through the GCAS Portal and the official SSSU Admission Page.

2. Admission Process via GCAS

  1. Register: Go to GCAS portal → Apply Now → Enter personal details → Verify via OTP.
  2. Login: Use GCAS credentials → Select courses and universities (choose SSSU).
  3. Fill Form: Complete academic/personal details → Upload documents (mark sheets, certificates, photo, signature).
  4. Pay Fee: ₹500 (General/OBC), ₹250 (SC/ST/PwD) for unlimited course/college choices.
  5. Submit: Finalize submission and download confirmation email.
  6. Merit & Verification: Merit lists published on SSSU portal. Shortlisted students must visit campus for document verification and fee payment.

3. Programs & Eligibility

3.1 Undergraduate (UG) Programs

  • Courses: Shastri (B.A. Sanskrit) – Sahitya, Veda, Purāṇa, Jyotiṣa, Nyāya, Vedānta, etc.
  • Integrated B.A. B.Ed.: 4-year Shiksha-Shastri program
  • Eligibility: 10+2 from any stream with minimum 45% (40% for SC/ST)
  • B.Ed. Eligibility: Shastri degree with at least 45%

3.2 Postgraduate (PG) & PG Diploma

  • Courses: Acharya (M.A. Sanskrit), PGDCA, Yoga, Translation, Journalism
  • Eligibility: Shastri (B.A. Sanskrit) with ≥ 50% (45% reserved)
  • Selection: Merit-based; departmental test required for some courses like Yoga

3.3 Diploma & Certificate Courses

Distance Diploma and Certificate programs in subjects like Yoga and Vedānta are available via the SSSU Distance Education Wing.

  • Eligibility: 10+2 or Graduate (varies by course)
  • Online Registration: 25 June 2025 – 30 July 2025

3.4 Ph.D. Research Program

SSSU offers Ph.D. in Sanskrit and allied disciplines:

  • Eligibility: Acharya (M.A.) with ≥ 55% marks (50% for reserved); NET/JRF/GATE/SET exempt from PET
  • Admission Process: GCAS registration → PET exam → Personal Interview → Research Proposal Evaluation
  • Forms & Notifications: Available on SSSU Ph.D. Portal

4. Fee Structure & Scholarships

  • Application Fee: ₹500 (General/OBC), ₹250 (SC/ST/PwD) via GCAS
  • Program Fees: UG/PG fees available under “Fee Structure” on the admission portal
  • Scholarships: Post-admission support includes MYSY, CM scholarships, and central schemes

6. Reservation & Relaxations

SSSU follows the Government of Gujarat’s reservation policy:

  • SC – 7%
  • ST – 15%
  • SEBC/OBC – 27%
  • EWS – 10%
  • PwD, Sports, and Defence quotas as applicable

Mark and fee relaxations apply per government norms.
