Getting Around: Stadium, Metro & Beyond

Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium has its own stop on the Delhi Metro Violet Line, plus nearby Jor Bagh and Jangpura stations. If you’re staying at an official hotel, the shuttle loops mean you may barely touch public transit—handy if you’re rolling heavy with race chairs or throwing frames. Independent explorers will find improved way-finding signage city-wide after earlier mega-events.

Accessibility scorecard: Recent spectator surveys gave the stadium 8–10 / 10 for ramps, lifts, and disabled seating decks. Wheelchair-friendly restrooms line the concourse, and volunteers can escort you to closer gates on request.

  • Must-sees: Humayun’s Tomb, Lodhi Gardens, and sunset at India Gate are all short rides from most official hotels.
  • Ride-shares: App-based cabs (Uber/Ola) are abundant, but Delhi traffic can crawl—build in buffer time.
  • Cultural nugget: A simple “Namaste” with a slight bow goes a long way.

Quick FAQ

Q: Can I stay in a random Airbnb and still ride the event buses?
A: Sorry—no. Official transport only serves LOC-booked hotels.

Q: What if I need an accessible room?
A: They’re limited. The LOC allocates after reviewing each team’s wheelchair count and sport classifications (T/F31-34, 51-54, RR). Booking early boosts your chances.

A: Yes, but the LOC notes that bank-card fees are on you. Bank transfers also work; details are on the invoice (Axis Bank, SWIFT AXISINBB126).

Q: Check-in/out times?
A: Check-in 14:00 IST – Check-out 12:00 IST—standard across all ten hotels.
