Sabarkantha’s Mobile Animal Clinics & ’1962’ Ambulance Save Over 95,000 Animals in a Year

Sabarkantha, May 1, 2026 – In a significant boost to livestock healthcare, the Gujarat government’s sensitive approach to animal husbandry has proven a blessing for Sabarkantha district. Over the last year (April 2025 to March 2026), a total of 95,851 animals have received quality treatment at their doorsteps, thanks to innovative mobile veterinary services and a dedicated animal ambulance network.

Officials report that the district’s performance in animal health services has been exceptional. Of the total treated, the advanced ‘Karuna Animal Ambulance-1962’ responded to 4,860 critical cases, providing immediate emergency care and saving numerous animals from life-threatening accidents or severe illnesses.

Meanwhile, a fleet of 16 mobile veterinary clinics – operating under the ’10 per village’ scheme – provided on-the-spot treatment to 90,991 livestock across remote and rural areas, eliminating the distress of farmers having to transport sick animals to distant hospitals.

A Companion for Farmers in Crisis

For livestock owners who depend on animal husbandry as their primary source of income, timely veterinary help is a huge relief. With these government services now operating at their doorstep, farmers no longer have to suffer severe financial losses due to animal sickness or injury.

“A sick or injured animal needs immediate doctor’s help. In Sabarkantha, these services have won the trust of the people,” a district official noted. “Since high-quality treatment is now available at home, pastoralists are spared economic hardship. This facility has become a true companion for animals in distress.”

‘1962’ – The ‘108’ for Speechless Creatures

Just as the ‘108’ ambulance service is life-saving for humans, the ‘1962’ Karuna Animal Ambulance has become the crisis companion for voiceless animals. The service operates entirely at the farmers’ doorstep.

Upon dialing 1962, a team of expert veterinarians arrives at the location with a fully-equipped ambulance, carrying all necessary medicines and tools. This modern service has removed the difficulty of transporting an injured or gravely ill animal to a clinic. Timely medical intervention continues to grant a new lease on life to thousands of voiceless creatures across the district.
