Good News for Gujarat Govt Pensioners: Free Digital Life Certificate Now Available at Post Offices

Devbhumi Dwarka, May 1, 2026 – In a major relief for over 5 lakh pensioners of the Gujarat government, the hassle of visiting treasuries, banks, or government offices for annual life certificate verification has ended. Thanks to a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Gujarat Finance Department and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), pensioners can now get a free Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) at their nearest post office or even at home through their local postman.

The entire cost of this service will be borne by the state government.

How It Works

The service uses the ‘Jeevan Pramaan’ application developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC). Pensioners simply need to provide:

  • Their Aadhaar number
  • Mobile number
  • Pension Payment Order (PPO) number

Through a digital biometric authentication process, the certificate is generated in just a few minutes. Once completed, the pensioner receives a Pramaan ID via SMS on their mobile phone. The certificate can then be downloaded from:

A digital copy is also automatically sent to the pension office.

Key Benefits

  • No travel required – Pensioners no longer need to visit treasury or bank offices.
  • Free of cost – The state government covers all expenses.
  • Doorstep service available – Contact your local postman or nearest post office.
  • Works across India – Gujarat pensioners living in other states can also use the service by visiting their local post office anywhere in the country.

Impact

More than 5 lakh Gujarat government pensioners will benefit from this initiative. It is especially helpful for elderly pensioners and those living in remote or rural areas.

“This initiative increases convenience for pensioners and frees them from the trouble of travel and time loss,” an official statement noted.
